2022 Convention in Vancouver

On Saturday 3rd December in a hotel in Vancouver, some of the greatest minds in GAA in Canada and Ulster were in one room for a club development day. Those in attendance were treated to a fantastic presentation by Ulster Chairman Ciaran McLaughlin and Ulster Secretary Brian McAvoy where they discussed the importance of managing the Financials within your club, the importance of volunteers within your club and much more. They led an excellent round table where clubs in attendance discussed some of the issues they have encountered over the past year. Clubs shared their knowledge on fundraising initiatives that could be used across the country as well as how they attract new players to their club.

Sunday saw the 2022 County Convention kick off, there were fantastic presentations from across the country, including the Chair of each Division giving excellent run downs of how the year went for their respective division. Motions were up for discussion and great conversations were had by those in attendance and those who joined by teams.

When it came to the election of officers, one position was up for vote, the rest were unopposed. The PRO position had no nominations, upon reopening for nominations the position was then filled.

A massive thank you to Brian & Ciaran for coming the whole way from Ireland and we hope you come back again!

Lastly, thank you to the outgoing committee, your work over the past year was been fantastic! 2022 was a great year for GAA in Canada and without your efforts & energy, it wouldn’t have been possible.

We hope to see more of you at our 2023 convention, where will we be headed for that? Stay tuned to find out!
