On Sunday January 28th, 2018, Éire Óg Ottawa Hurling Club will be hosting a Foundation Award Hurling Course.
The Foundation Award is the introductory award for current and aspiring hurling coaches. It is aimed at people who are new to coaching and want to discover what is involved in coaching. The Foundation Award Course is an activity-based course with the following modules : Introduction to Coaching, Movement Skills in Gaelic Games, Technical Skill Development, Introduction to Games, Coaching Children, Youths and Adult.
The course will run from 9:00am to 5pm.
There is no charge for this course.

Learn about refereeing Gaelic Football with Ottawa’s top GAA referee tutors!
Interested in refereeing? We are excited to be offering a Dual-Code GAA and LGFA refereeing clinic for Gaelic Football and Hurling on Saturday, February 16 from 10 am to 1 pm at Twin Elm Rugby Park.
Participants will gain the knowledge of the rules and game play at the clinic, and will apply their skills at the Saturday night winter league under the guidance of certified referee tutors, earning a nation-wide recognized certification as a Canadian GAA beginner referee.
Other practical opportunities will be available at tournaments such as the Spring Thaw in April, the youth league in June, and the Mike Robinson tournament in September.
LGFA referee course – Level 2
The Ottawa Gaels will be running a Foundation Award Coaching Course.
The Foundation Award is the introductory award for coaches of Gaelic Games. The course is aimed at beginner coaches and will enable participants to assist a coach in the organisation of activities to develop hurling or football.
The course is seven and a half hours in duration and covers four key modules, as well as introductory and conclusion modules. These four modules are:

Skill Development
Movement Skills
Coaching Children, Youths and Adults
