Learn about refereeing Gaelic Football with Ottawa’s top GAA referee tutors!
Interested in refereeing? We are excited to be offering a Dual-Code GAA and LGFA refereeing clinic for Gaelic Football and Hurling on Saturday, February 16 from 10 am to 1 pm at Twin Elm Rugby Park.
Participants will gain the knowledge of the rules and game play at the clinic, and will apply their skills at the Saturday night winter league under the guidance of certified referee tutors, earning a nation-wide recognized certification as a Canadian GAA beginner referee.
Other practical opportunities will be available at tournaments such as the Spring Thaw in April, the youth league in June, and the Mike Robinson tournament in September.
We will be hosting a 2 day refereeing course in Montreal on Friday 17th Jan (Hurling) and Saturday 18th Jan (Men’s/Ladies football)
The McNamara Cup is Vancouver Island’s signature tournament, typically held as a part of the Victoria Highland Games on May long weekend each year. The Highland Games have been significantly scaled back this year as a result of COVID-19, so the Rovers are going solo!
The format for the tournament will be a sevens competition in both men’s and ladies Gaelic football. Due to short notice and COVID-19, the tournament will only be open to BC and Alberta teams this year.
