Each year, players from all across Canada and the USA travel to the Continental Youth Championships where they face off in all four codes of Gaelic Games.
The McNamara Cup is Vancouver Island’s signature tournament, typically held as a part of the Victoria Highland Games on May long weekend each year. The Highland Games have been significantly scaled back this year as a result of COVID-19, so the Rovers are going solo!
The format for the tournament will be a sevens competition in both men’s and ladies Gaelic football. Due to short notice and COVID-19, the tournament will only be open to BC and Alberta teams this year.
The tenth annual Mike Robinson Tournament (MRT), a coed, recreational Gaelic football tournament for Senior players, youth and this year coed Camogie will be a feature. The funds raised from this event will go towards a canoe trip, which Mike used to take with students from Philomen Wright High School in Hull, QC. It has gone on since he passed away due to the dedication of his coworkers. It is a gift to be able to have students still paddling due to Mike’s vision.
